Offshore-Servers is working on integrating more features into their WHMCS client portal to simplify dedicated server management. These upcoming automation features will put some controls at your fingertips without always having to go through support or IPMI for routine tasks. Here are the anticipated features and how they’ll help:

  • Client-Area Power Controls: Soon, you may see buttons in your Offshore-Servers client area to Reboot, Shutdown, or Power On your dedicated server. This would send a command to the server’s management interface to perform the action. It saves time as you won’t need to open IPMI or file a ticket just to reboot. This is especially useful if you have multiple dedicated servers – you can manage them all from a single panel with one-click reboots.
  • OS Reinstallation via Panel: A major convenience will be the ability to trigger an OS reinstall from the client area. The interface might let you select from available OS templates (similar to how VPS works) – for example, choose Ubuntu 22.04 or Windows Server 2022 – and then initiate a reinstall. The system likely integrates with an automated provisioning backend that Offshore-Servers has in their data center, which will reboot your server into an installer and deploy the chosen OS, then update your credentials in the portal. This will drastically cut down the turnaround time if you ever need a fresh OS. You won’t have to schedule with support; instead, do it at any time on your own. Keep in mind, an automated reinstall will wipe the server, so they might build in a confirmation step or require you to type something like “CONFIRM” to avoid accidents.
  • Bandwidth Graphs and Statistics: They might provide monitoring graphs in the portal, such as bandwidth usage over time, CPU load (if the server’s IPMI supports feeding that), etc. At least bandwidth is common – you’ll be able to see how much data you’ve used in the month, to track against any limits or just for your info. This is helpful for planning and seeing usage trends.
  • rDNS Management: Instead of emailing support to set reverse DNS, the portal could allow you to set the PTR records for your IPs. This is a feature some hosts provide for convenience.
  • IPMI Access Through Portal: If security is a concern exposing IPMI publicly, they might integrate a web console in the portal. For example, a “Launch Console” button that opens a KVM console in your browser to the server, or at least instructions/temporary credentials for IPMI. This centralizes everything under one login (WHMCS client login), which is simpler for customers.
  • Rescue Mode Activation: Possibly, a feature to boot into rescue mode or a different network boot might be given. This could tie into the OS reinstall as well (where a rescue or install environment is orchestrated).
  • Alerts and Notifications: With automation, you might opt-in to receive automatic email/SMS alerts for events like high bandwidth usage, server down (if ping monitoring is integrated), etc. This isn’t exactly a “feature” you trigger, but part of the improved managed interface that could come.

All these planned features will bring the dedicated server experience closer to the convenience that VPS users have, without sacrificing the power of bare metal. It shows Offshore-Servers’ commitment to user-friendly service, even for advanced offerings like dedicated servers.

Keep an eye on announcements from Offshore-Servers – as they roll out these features, they’ll likely notify clients on how to use them. Always make sure your contact information is up to date in the portal to get these updates.

For now, if a task is not yet automated, their support is your go-to. But in the near future, managing dedicated servers will be much smoother via the client area.
