Data protection is a crucial part of any hosting solution. Managed VPS plans usually come with a backup strategy to ensure your data is safe even in worst-case scenarios. Offshore-Servers’ managed SSD VPS includes regular backups as a feature.

Here’s what to expect regarding backups on a managed VPS:

  • Automated Backups: The hosting team will configure automated backups of your VPS at regular intervals – often daily or weekly incremental backups. These backups may include full server images or at least critical data (web files, databases, configurations). For example, they might take nightly snapshots of your server or use a backup agent to copy your data to an offsite backup server. Offshore-Servers will make sure backups are routinely created so you don’t have to set it up yourself.
  • Multiple Restore Points: Typically, several recent restore points are kept. If something goes wrong, you can ask support to restore from yesterday’s backup or from a specific date. Having multiple points in time is useful in case you only discover an issue (like data corruption or malware) days after it occurred – you could revert to a clean backup from before the incident.
  • Off-Server Storage: Backups are usually stored on separate storage (an independent backup server or cloud storage) to ensure that even if the VPS node has a failure, the backups are intact. This is important for disaster recovery. Offshore-Servers might utilize remote backup servers or a service like R1Soft, etc. The key is your backups are not kept on the same disk as your VPS (otherwise they’d be lost if that disk fails).
  • Managed Restoration: If you need to restore a backup, the managed support will handle it for you. For instance, if you accidentally deleted some important files or a faulty update broke your site, you can raise a ticket, and they can restore the specific files or entire VPS to a previous state. In some cases, control panels also allow self-service restores (e.g., cPanel’s JetBackup interface) – if available, the team will guide you on using it, or do it for you upon request.
  • Backup Integrity and Monitoring: As part of the managed service, the host monitors that backups are actually completing successfully. If a backup fails (perhaps due to insufficient space or an error), they will address it. This is a relief because you don’t want to find out during a crisis that your backups weren’t running. The provider essentially ensures backup reliability as part of their management duties.
  • Additional Snapshots (On-Demand): Some providers let you take on-demand snapshots (like before making a big change, you request a snapshot). With managed hosting, you can ask support to do an extra backup or snapshot at a given time if you feel the need, and they’ll likely accommodate it.

For data protection, you as the client should still practice caution – for example, keep occasional downloads of backups for yourself if possible, and avoid storing the only copy of critical data on one server. But with the managed plan’s backups, you have a strong safety net. Knowing that “backups are there” and professionally maintained frees you from a lot of worry.

In summary, managed VPS includes a robust backup regimen: regular automated backups, secure storage, and assistance in restoration. Your data on an offshore managed server is as safe as it can be, guarded against both user error and technical failures. Always clarify how often backups run and how long they are retained so you can align that with your business needs (there are always options if you need longer retention or more frequent backups, possibly at additional cost).
