How to Choose Your Offshore Server Location

“Offshore” is not one place. The right location depends on three things: where your audience is, which jurisdiction you want your data under, and what your content needs.

1. Audience latency

Physics first: every 1,000 km adds delay. Serve European users from Europe and Asian users from Asia. Our Amsterdam location covers Europe with excellent peering; Hong Kong covers East and Southeast Asia. If your audience spans both, run two servers and split traffic.

2. Jurisdiction

Hosting outside your home jurisdiction is the core of offshore hosting. The DMCA, for example, is a United States law — as a non-US company it does not affect us directly, which is what “DMCA ignored hosting” refers to. Every location we offer sits outside US jurisdiction; what varies is local law, so check our Terms of Service for what applies everywhere.

3. Content and bandwidth needs

Streaming and high-traffic projects should follow bandwidth availability: our streaming servers ship with 1–10 Gbps ports in Amsterdam and Hong Kong. General workloads on VPS or dedicated servers are more flexible.
